To improve the quality and timeliness of TV program recommendations, a recommendation system that uses life log data such as browsing histories on WEB, locations visited, operation history of consumer electronics, and personal scheduler on PC is proposed. A subjective experiment shows that life log data is effective in improving the quality of program recommendations.
User-defined preferences in a natural style is useful in the pervasive computing environment, but bring a great challenge to understand. People often express conditional as well as independent preferences. We propose an ontology-based quantitative model for conditional preferences that aims to enhance the inference capacity of conditional preference statements and thus reduce users' workload. Different...
This paper describes an novel approach towards linguistic processing for robots through integration of a motion language module and a natural language module. The motion language module represents association between symbolized motion patterns and words. The natural language module models sentences. The motion language module and the natural language module are graphically integrated. The integration...
In previous work, the authors have been developing a stochastic model based approach for on-line segmentation of whole body human motion patterns during human motion observation and learning, using a simplified kinematic model of the human body. In this paper, we extend the proposed approach to larger, more realistic kinematic models, which can better represent a larger variety of human motions. These...
To help unskilled users operate their networks, I propose a method for composing network operation services based on the knowledge base provided in Web ontology languages. To achieve this, I propose a method for automatic integration of proprietary operation service interfaces and integrated component operation services at the semantic level. This method involves the automatic addition of wrapper...
This paper proposes a stochastic approach for representing and analyzing the gradual changes that occur in human movement during sports training. Human movement primitives are described using factorial hidden Markov models, and compared using the Kullback-Liebler distance, a measure of information divergence between two models. This representation is combined with an automated segmentation and clustering...
This paper proposes an on-line, interactive approach for incremental learning and visualization of full body motion primitives from observation of human motion. The human demonstrator motion is captured in a motion capture studio. The continuous observation sequence is first partitioned into motion segments, using stochastic segmentation. Motion segments are next incrementally clustered and organized...
P2P networks can achieve high scalability since they distribute service contents/resources to multiple nodes in the network. In a P2P network, it is necessary to search the resource location on the network when we use some contents/resources. Space filling curve is known as technique to map information of the multi-dimensional space such as the location information onto the one-dimensional space such...
This paper proposes a new approach named Multi-Preview Control to achieve an on-line control of trajectory tracking and obstacle avoidance for redundant manipulator. This control strategy locates between on-line local method and off-line global method (path planning). In the trajectory tracking process, the configuration of manipulator is required to possess avoidance manipulability as high as possible...
We measured the drift velocity and the longitudinal diffusion coefficient of electrons in pure C2H2. The present drift velocity in the lower E/N agreed very well with the measurement of Duncan and Walker, but there are no comparative results with our data in higher E/N range. The longitudinal diffusion coefficient of electrons in pure C2H2 is the first measurement. We also measured these transport...
In order to realize Web information retrieval using characteristic tree structured patterns in semistructured Web documents, methods for discovering frequent patterns or common characteristics in semistructured documents become more and more important. We have studied methods for discovering maximally frequent tree structured patterns in semistructured Web documents. A tag tree pattern is an edge...
A 125 MHz 1 GIPS at 1.3 V 1 W microprocessor with single-chip tightly-coupled multiprocessor architecture and low-voltage circuits is targeted to high-performance and low-power embedded systems, especially smart information terminals. This paper shows an entire chip diagram integrating four tightly-coupled processors. Each processing element (PE) is in-order two-way issue superscalar with two ALU...
