Cyclin dependent protein kinases (CDKs) are pursued as drug targets for several eukaryotic pathogens. In this study, we identified thiophene and benzene sulfonamides as potent inhibitors of Pfmrk, a Plasmodium falciparum CDK with sequence homology to human CDK7.
