Theoretical and experimental demonstration of light collapse control in magnetooptical bulk Kerr media is presented. The tunable interplay between magnetically induced birefringences is achieved via a combination of the Cotton-Mouton and Faraday effects.
Here we present a use of lambda2 : lambda2 nonlinearities that has no analog in cubic media. Through mixed quadratic and cubic nonlinearities in a frequency-doubling crystal we find the first manifestation of the Chen-Lee-Liu-type (CLL) derivative nonlinear Schrodinger equation (dNLSE) in nonlinear optics. In conclusion, we have observed novel optical effects by using a mix of quadratic and cubic...
Summary form only given. Since the pioneering experimental results of optical vortex solitons have been in the centre of interest because of their fundamental importance in optics and other fields of physics, and because of their potential applications for all-optical information processing. Formally conventional vortex solitons exist on an infinite nonzero background, which in practice requires rather...
Summary form only given. Solitons in a dual-core fiber have been considered in a number of works. Usually, the two cores are assumed to be identical. However, fibers with dissimilar cores are of interest too. In this work, we consider the simplest model of a fiber with mismatched cores in which the only effective difference between the cores is in the phase velocities.
