We propose a novel configuration for a tunable optical dispersion compensator (TODC) with increased bandwidth. We demonstrate 40-wavelength channelized compensation for 400-ps/nm chromatic dispersion with a 40-GHz bandwidth using the proposed TODC.
We propose hybrid AWG-free space focusing optics which is about a half size of the conventional 2-f system. Using this optics, we demonstrate a 40-channel 100-GHz spacing wavelength blocker with the 0.5-dB passband of 76 GHz.
We demonstrate pulse waveform shaping with a circuit employing an arrayed waveguide grating pair and amplitude-phase controllers. We flexibly synthesized the frequency components of a mode-locked laser to produce 40 GHz square pulses with various widths.
We demonstrate an integrated 32ch dynamic wavelength channel selector consisting of an AWG and a 32 /spl times/ 1 switch using PLC technology. The crosstalk is less than -35 dB, we successfully obtained a loss variation of only /spl plusmn/ 0.1 dB.
