A high Q microwave photonic filter is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. It is based on a recirculating delay line comprising a semiconductor optical amplifier used to generate negative tap. A frequency response with a high Q of 543, a rejection ratio of 40 dB and good shape factor is obtained.
We proposed and demonstrated a simple 2-to-4 line photonic decoder at 40 Gbit/s based on the demodulation properties of two fiber delay interferometers (FDIs) and cross gain modulation (XGM) of four parallel semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs). Four logic minterms with high extinction ratio (ER), clear and wide open eye diagrams were obtained simultaneously without continuous-wave (CW) probe lasers.
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel all-optical microwave filter with high frequency selectivity. It is based on a recirculating delay line (RDL) loop in which a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is followed by a tunable narrowband optical filter and a 1 × 2 10:90 optical coupler. Converted signal used as a negative tap is generated through wavelength conversion employing the cross-gain...
A microwave photonic filter with passband and stopband interchanged is proposed and demonstrated. The structure is based on a recirculating delay line loop comprising a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and a tunable narrowband optical filter, converted signal used as negative tap is generated employing the cross-gain modulation of the amplified spontaneous emission spectrum of the SOA. The filter...
We demonstrate all-optical ultra-wideband doublet pulse generation by single SOA and 1 km SMF. The doublet pulses are transmitted over 5 km SMF by dispersion compensation without degradation. The pulse shape modulation is also shown.
An all-optical minterm generator for three-input NRZ-DPSK signals is proposed and demonstrated based on SOAs and delay interferometers. Results are derived in OOK format. Experiment with two DPSK inputs is also carried out for comparison.
A filter-free all-optical pump-probe scheme for ultrawideband (UWB) monocycle pulse generation with single semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is proposed and demonstrated. A pair of polarity-reversed optical pulses is generated due to cross gain modulation (XGM) in the pump-probe scheme, whereas the amplified pump pulse becomes sharp in its leading edge such that the power peak is shifted forward...
We demonstrate 40 Gb/s inverted and non-inverted wavelength conversion (WC) in the whole C-band based on a SOA and an optical bandpass filter. The WC is non-inverted regardless if the filter is blue- or red-shifted with respect to the central wavelength of the converted signal.
We theoretically discuss 40 Gb/s semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-based wavelength conversion (WC) using a detuning optical bandpass filter. Both inverted and non-inverted WCs are obtained by shifting the filter central wavelength with respect to the probe wavelength when input data signal is RZ format. The filter detuning is essential to different output formations
An ultrafast all-optical logic NOR gate based on a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and a fiber delay interferometer (FDI) is presented. For high-speed input return-to-zero (RZ) signal, nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) switching windows which satisfy Boolean NOR operation can be formed by properly choosing the delay time and the phase shift of FDI. 40 Gb/s NOR operation has been demonstrated successfully...
