We propose an integrated SDM-WSS architecture used for various types of SDM-fibers and ROADM switching types. The architecture employs a PLC-based spatial-beam-transformer-array as a key enabler and enables significant hardware reduction of up to 1/8.
We investigate through simulation simultaneous linear and nonlinear impairments using a realistic reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexer (ROADM) model while considering optical filtering and in-band coherent crosstalk at each ROADM and the nonlinear interfering effects from neighbor superchannels with the QPSK or 16QAM modulation format.
We propose a programmable multicarrier generator (MCG) as a key enabler to flexibly establish and regenerate multiple superchannels to connect various source-destination pairs. We design the programmable MCG with an integrated periodical optical filter array and show precise and flexible spectrum control of multiple subcarriers generated from individual tunable laser diodes.
We describe several approaches to perform digital holography with single-pixel detection by using phase-structured illumination and compressive sensing. Single-pixel imaging works by sampling the scene with micro-structured amplitude patterns implemented onto a spatial light modulator and recording light intensity fluctuation with a simple photodiode. Recently, we have demonstrated the capability...
