We show that a model in which the breakdown of the interfacial layer induces a correlated breakdown in the high-K, at the same location, provides a good model of the high-K/IL gate stack statistics. We discuss of the implication of this model on the lifetime projection.
In this paper, the Copper wirebonding technology is investigated. From a numerical point of view, the wirebonding process is modelled. Experiments on specially designed bondpads are performed in order to verify the models. As such, this leads to a thorough understanding of the wirebonding process, especially the forces that take a role during this process.
An isolated bi-directional full-bridge DC-DC converter with high conversion ratio, high output power and soft start-up capability for battery charging/discharging is proposed in this paper. The use of a capacitor and a flyback converter can clamp the voltage spike caused by the current difference between the current-fed inductor and leakage inductance of the isolation transformer, and can reduce the...
This paper presents a 5 kW boost converter with various passive/active snubbers for reducing current and voltage stress, and achieving high efficiency. The proposed converter includes a clamp branch diode and capacitor, a coupling inductor, and a PWM converter to function as active clamp. As compared to a conventional boost converter with a passive inductor-capacitor-diode (LCD) snubber, the proposed...
For DFIG (doubly fed induction generator)-based wind turbines, crowbar is a commonly used protection method against surge current caused by sudden drop of the grid voltage during the period of LVRT (low voltage ride-through). Based on detailed analysis of the transient flux characteristics of DFIG with the crowbar fired, a simplified model is proposed to analyze and approximate the short circuit current...
Cable-driven parallel manipulators (CDPMs) are a special class of parallel manipulators that are driven by cables instead of rigid links. So CDPMs have a light-weight structure with large reachable workspace. The aim of this paper is to provide the kinematic analysis and the design optimization of a cable-driven 2-DOF module, comprised of a passive universal joint, for a reconfigurable system. This...
Cable-driven parallel manipulators (CDPMs) are a special class of parallel manipulators that are driven by cables instead of rigid links. Due to the unilateral property of the cables, all the driving cables in a fully-constrained CDPM must always maintain positive tension. As a result, tension analysis is the most essential issue for these CDPMs. By drawing upon the mathematical theory from convex...
Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CdZnTe or CZT) is a very attractive material for using as room-temperature semiconductor detectors, because it has a wide bandgap and a high atomic number. However, due to the material's poor hole mobility, several special techniques were developed to ensure its suitability for radiation detection. Among them, the virtual Frisch-grid CZT detector is an attractive option, having...
Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT) detectors possess a unique combination of the necessary material properties required for high photon detection efficiency, high resistivity, good photoconductivity and acceptable electrical transport properties, and a great of progress has been made to fabricate good spectroscopic grade detectors from the crystals. Despite these notable advantages, their widespread deployment...
During technology development, the study of ultra low-k (ULK) TDDB is important for assuring robust reliability. As the technology advances, several critical ULK TDDB issues were faced for the first time and needed to be addressed. First, the increase of ULK leakage current noise level induced by soft breakdown during stress was observed. Second, it was found that ULK had lower field acceleration...
This study proposes a wireless remote control system for portable X-ray machine. This renovated system is based on C/S model, in which both Server and Client are portable computers, and the wireless network cards that suit the 802.11 n protocol are used for communications between Server and Client. In this designed system, the Client sends control commands to the Server through wireless network, and...
Random Linear Coding (RLC) [2] is a form of network coding where each network node, rather than forwarding packets unchanged along the path from source-to-destination, forwards random linear combinations of the data it has received. In this paper, the benefits of using Random Linear Coding(RLC) for data sharing in upload-limited wireless packet networks is investigated. Through simulations, we demonstrate...
Wireless sensor networks have been widely used for surveillance in harsh environments. In many such applications, the environmental data are continuously sensed, and data collection is performed synchronously. When a data collector cannot communicate with the sensors directly for some reason, continuous data collection becomes a challenging problem. In this paper, we present an effective way of solving...
We present a preliminary version of a simulation environment to evaluate the 3D reconstruction algorithms of the coronary arteries in rotational angiography. It includes the construction of a 3D dynamic model of the coronary tree from patient data, the modeling of the rotational angiography acquisition system to simulate different acquisition and gating strategies and the calculation of radiographic...
We fabricated novel monolithically integrated microwave switch using AlGaN/GaN heterojunction field-effect transistors (HFET) without ohmic contacts. All three electrodes: source, gate and drain, formed by capacitively coupled contacts (C3) to the 2D channel. The C3HFETs do not require annealed contacts and hence can be fabricated using alignment-free technology. This makes them ideally suitable for...
Resonance characterisation has been used to determine the variation of the independent piezoelectric, elastic, and dielectric material coefficients, as well as the electromechanical coupling factors, of typical soft and hard lead zirconate titanate (PZT) ceramics as a function of temperature ranging from -165degC to 195degC. The piezoelectric coefficients and the dielectric permittivities generally...
We describe the next generation high power, single-mode 980 nm laser diode for EDFA pumping. The FBG-stabilized pump modules produce 0.7 W kink-free power with superior reliability and performance.
An algorithm is proposed that perform a temporal tracking of the vessel central axis in a 3-D dynamic sequence in multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT). The approach is based on geometric moments and a local cylindrical approximation. The local characteristics of the vessel are estimated on the first volume of the sequence (position on the vessel central axis, local diameter, intravascular and background...
This paper deals with the extraction of the coronary network on dynamic volume sequences, acquired in multi-slice spiral computed tomography (MSCT). The proposed approach makes use of a tracking algorithm of the vascular structure, combining a 3D geometric moment operator with a multiscale Hessian filter to estimate the vessel central axis location, its local diameter and orientation. The method performs...
