This presentation will give an overview of the THz metal waveguides which are single copper wire, copper coaxial cable, and aluminum sheet. Very low attenuation and group velocity dispersion are observed to the waveguides. Optoelectronic generation of sub-ps-THz pulses are launched directly into copper coaxial cable and aluminum sheet.
This paper reports on the guidance properties on the surface of copper wire and stainless steel wire in the terahertz frequency range. The used metal wires have 0.5mm diameter. The dominant transverse-magnetic (TM01) surface wave mode (Sommerfeld wave) of the metal wire waveguide has very low attenuation and group velocity dispersion. All the other higher modes vanished almost immediately after coupling...
We report an experimental and theoretical study of the guidance properties on the surface of copper and stainless steel wires in the terahertz frequency range. Instead of using quasioptic coupling, optoelectronically generated THz pulses by silicon on sapphire (SOS) photoconductive dipole antenna were directly launched onto a 0.5-mm-diameter copper and stainless steel wire. After a 71-cm propagation...
