We report the action of tetrazolato-bridged dinuclear platinum(II) complex, 5-H-Y (2+), and SPD (3+) on the higher-order and secondary structure of DNA through the observations with fluorescence microscopy and CD measurements. From the measurement on the higher-order structure of a giant DNA in solution with fluorescence microscopy, it was found that 5-H-Y (2+) causes shrinking of DNA above 10 μM...
We observed human body fluctuations with different standing conditions by using a mechanical sending device, balance Wii board. We measured the spontaneous fluctuations on both the front/rear and left/right directions. In the present study, we have analyzed the time-dependent fluctuation by focusing the characteristic of time-inversion asymmetry, in addition to the usual analysis of Fourier transformation...
We have observed transitions from lamellar to isotropic phase of a mixture solution which are composed of pure water, 2,6-dimethylpiridine and an antagonistic salt, NaBPh4, using a polarization microscope. The experimental results have indicated that the phase transitions depend on the concentration of NaBPh4 and temperature. The NaBPh4 take a decisive role for the stability of the mixture solution.
We previously proposed a new bioinstrumentation using the shape deformation of the amputated upper limbs without using the myoelectricity generated on the skin of the upper limbs. However many electronic parts were required owing to a bridge circuit and multi-amplifier circuits so as to amplify a tiny voltage of strain gages. Moreover, the surplus heat might occur by the overcurrent owing to low resistance...
Some upper limb amputees have been annually supplied with myoelectric prostheses by social rehabilitation promotion services. However, the persons supplied with the prostheses have been limited because a supply system has not been established yet. Accordingly, we propose a new bioinstrumentation using the shape deformation of the amputated upper limbs without using the myoelectricity generated on...
Nanoparticles, as nonviral vectors, are expected as a candidate on highly effective non-viral gene carrier. We prepared organically modified cationic silica nanoparticles toward the high performance nonviral vector. It is to be noted that the complexes of DNA and nanoparticles are regarded as a simple model of chromatin. Furthermore, it is reported that the transcription activity of DNA is preserved...
We report here the development of a novel system for cell-free protein synthesis that can be operated at high temperatures using a lysate of the hyperthermophilic archaeon, Thermococcus kodakaraensis. With the system, cell-free protein synthesis of ChiADelta4, a derivative of T. kodakaraensis chitinase (ChiA), was observed within a temperature range of 40 degC to 80 degC, with an optimum at 65 degC...
Spontaneous formation of cell clusters was experimentally studied for a cardiac cell culture system. A primary cell culture prepared from a newborn rat was cultivated and continuously observed using microscopy. It was observed that the cells start to form small clusters, and then form a network of clusters, which was generated on a timescale of one week. It was found that addition of an agent that...
Filament of F-actin is formed from a linear array of G-actin and exhibits the characteristics as a negatively charged stiff polyelectrolyte with the persistence length above 1 mum. In living cellular system, F-actins from thick bundles with the help of specific proteins as the mediator. It has been found that bundling of F-actin filaments is generated with various cationic species, such as Fe3+ ,...
