High-power fiber lasers can be incoherently combined to form the basis of a directed high-energy laser system which is highly efficient, compact, robust, low-maintenance and has a long operating lifetime. This approach has a number of advantages over other beam combining methods. We present results of the first field demonstration of incoherent beam combining using kilowatt-class, single-mode fiber...
We report the results of an experimental study on broadband second-harmonic (SH) parametric scattering in an un-poled strontium barium niobate (SBN) crystal with random-size ferroelectric domains. We consider different geometries of the interacting waves. The observed spatial distribution of the SHG is due to the larger facility to achieve phase matching conditions in the presence of disorder, and...
In this paper, a transverse quasi-phase-matched parametric upconversion is employed to realise a compact ultra-broadband correlator for characterisation of ultrashort pulses, thus bringing together the advantages of parametric processes in solid-state materials and the simplicity of the TPF method. Cross-correlations with reference pulses of known properties can be used in order to gain more information...
We report on the experimental observation of nonlinear localization of light in azimuthally modulated Bessel photonic lattices. These lattices are optically induced in a photorefractive crystal and resemble multiple-core highly nonlinear microstructure fibers.
We observe experimentally nonlinear localization of beams in two-dimensional modulated Bessel-type photonic lattices with self-focusing nonlinear response.
We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally directional wave transport in two-dimensional perfectly periodic photonic structures. This effect is associated with the anisotropic mobility of nonlinear localized modes formed by the combined effects of total-internal and Bragg reflection.
