Photonic-integrated circuits fabricated on a heterogeneously integrated silicon platform have demonstrated record levels of integration and communication capacity. As photonic-integrated circuits become larger and more complex, designing and analyzing them demand modeling and simulation methodologies employed in matured electronic design automation. In this paper, the development of compact models...
Nanophotonic interconnects have been playing an increasingly important role in the datacom regime. Greater integration of silicon photonics demands modeling and simulation support for design validation, optimization and design space exploration. In this work, we develop compact models for a number of key photonic devices, which are extensively validated by the measurement data of a fabricated optical...
The traditional RF-MEMS switch is proved to have high return wave loss and low stability in signal transmission. This paper adopts CST to study S parameter characteristics of the RF-MEMS switch and design a new structure switch based on photon crystal. The experiment shows that the new structure switch has excellent tranmission characterisitcs relative to the common structure. In the end, the switch...
We demonstrate bandwidth reconfigurable radio-frequency photonic filters based on optical frequency combs. By changing the comb bandwidth with a manually tunable RF attenuator, the filter bandwidth can be increased by the maximum of 112%.
Microwave photonic filters utilizing optical frequency combs have been shown to achieve narrow bandwidths, high stopband attenuation as well as easy tunability of center frequency and bandwidth. The ability to achieve smooth apodization of optical frequency comb spectrum to specific spectral profiles is important to obtain high stopband attenuations. Previously, by utilizing an optical pulse shaper...
