The gyrotron oscillator has been demonstrated as one of the leading candidates for powerful sub-millimetre and millimetre wave generation1. However, this device is not yet widespread in the THz frequency range due to the requirement of intense external magnetic field. To solve this problem, a high harmonic operation of the gyrotron should be considered. A large orbit gyrotron2 (LOG), by restricting...
A high-harmonic gyrotron using an axis-encircling electron beam has been designed and studied. The eighth harmonic oscillation at 0.42 THz can be realized in the designed gyrotron, leading to a significant reduction of the required external magnetic field strength. The operation of the gyrotron is characterized using 3-D particle-in-cell simulations.
A 0.42 THz fourth-harmonic large orbit gyrotron (LOG) operating with TE4,2 mode is designed and studied. Unlike the widely used TEm, 1 mode in previous high harmonic (harmonic number s>=4) LOGs, the increase of radial index from 1 to 2 and even larger values bears the potential to enhance the beam-wave interaction efficiency as well as to decrease the cavity wall loss. 3D PIC simulation has shown...
In this paper, we proposed a compact near-field and far-field RFID reader antenna with a dimension of 50 mm × 50 mm × 0.8 mm in the UHF band. The fabricated antenna printed on a FR4 substrate operates from 915 to 935 MHz with reflection coefficient less than −10dB, covering the China UHF band. The strong and uniform magnetic field is excited by magnetic dipole source. The measured reading distance...
