A 10 Gbit/s /spl times/ 8 ch WDM modulator module with 50-GHz channel spacing is demonstrated. The module contains only one monolithically integrated WDM modulator chip that is only 15 mm /spl times/ 7 mm in size.
We demonstrate a 64-channel WDM wavelength-selective receiver, which is composed of a WDM channel selector and a photodiode. Error-free operation at 1.25 Gbit/s was obtained. Typical sensitivity was -14 dBm. Successful channel switching was confirmed
Single-stage all-optical 3R with the input wavelength retained is demonstrated for the first time at a bit rate of 40 Gbit/s. This was achieved using filter-free all-optical wavelength conversion in a Sagnac interferometer integrated with parallel-amplifier structure (SIPAS).
