We demonstrate a flexible and stretchable meta-skin and its applications for tunable frequency selective surface and invisibility cloak in microwave regime. The meta-skin is formed by embedding liquid metal-based split ring resonators into a highly stretchable elastomer. The frequency response of the meta-skin can be tuned continuously from 9.15 GHz to 12.38 GHz by simple mechanical stretching. The...
Special functions with multiple values in solving the possible modes (guided and leaky) of the circular dielectric rod are analyzed in detail in this paper. By taking consideration of the physical meaning of these modes, the possible solutions are well defined and classified based on different types of special functions and Riemann sheets. Characteristic equations can be used to solve different types...
This paper explores the effective permittivity and permeability of the structure which has periodic lossy dielectric objects embedded in a matrix. The asymptotic expressions for both high conductivity and quasi-static are derived and discussed. Numerical results both from the MG formula and an integral equation approach are provided to verify all the asymptotic expressions and related conclusions.
A new Sommerfeld integral path is proposed for a dielectric slab with double negative metamaterials. In order to conceive the proper Sommerfeld integral path, the mode properties of a grounded dielectric slab with double negative metamaterials are first reviewed. Dispersion diagrams and power flows are investigated, followed by a summary of sign choices for possible solutions. The mode loci in the...
In this paper, we discussed mode spectrum of a grounded dielectric slab with DNG medium and its pole loci as the thickness or loss changes. They are more complicated than those of conventional DPS medium, and these complexities suggest a different Sommerfeld integral path for DNG medium.
