We present a single-chip tuner RFIC for the newly established Chinese Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting (CMMB) standard. This mobile digital TV tuner covers the CMMB frequencies from 2.635 GHz to 2.660 GHz. Implemented in a 0.35 um SiGe technology with 4 mm2 die size, this tuner IC achieves noise figure of 2 dB, input sensitivity of -100 dBm, IIP3 of 17 dBm, and total power of 162 mW under a 2.8 V supply.
Smart antennas may enhance performance by applying conventional algorithms such as maximal-ratio combining (MRC) or maximum average signal-to-noise-ratio beamforming, i.e., statistical beamforming (BF). However, MRC and BF yield advantages that offset their complexity only for extreme antenna correlation values, which seldom occur for space-limited base-station antenna arrays deployed in typical urban...
A distributed amplifier with new cascade inductively-coupled common-source gain-cell configuration is presented. Compared with other existing gain-cell configurations, the proposed cascade common-source gain cell provides much higher gain. The new distributed amplifier, fabricated in TSMC 0.18-mum CMOS process, achieves an average power gain of around 10 dB, input match of less than -20 dB, and noise...
