WDM-PONs for 10-Gb/s bidirectional transmission are realized with REAMs as ONUs and ASE source for channel fault monitoring. The remotely pumped scheme can simultaneously boost up- and down-stream signals and enhance OSNR of monitoring signals.
We demonstrate a cross-remodulation WDM-PON architecture which provides bidirectional transmission of 1.25-Gbps OOK wire-line signal and OFDM wireless signal over 25 km SMF. The system uses color-free ONUs and can reduce Rayleigh backscattering effects.
Dual-wavelength DFB lasers and REAMs are used in a WDM-PON architecture employing a cross-remodulation scheme that can suppress the Rayleigh scattering effect. Bidirectional transmission of 10-Gb/s signals is demonstrated with reduced devices requirements.
We propose and demonstrate the use of fiber ring lasers and Fabry-Perot laser diodes (FP-LDs) for wavelength-division-multiplexing access networks. The fiber ring laser not only generates downstream data traffic but also serves as the wavelength-selecting injection light source for the FP-LD located at the subscriber site. Moreover, it is wavelength tunable and can be applied to dynamic wavelength...
