A broadband silicon PSR is presented with an insertion loss lower than ∼0.7dB/0.3dB and crosstalk lower than 12.1dB/14.7dB for TE and TM mode respectively. By combining the PSR with AWG and Germanium PDs, an integrated polarization insensitive DWDM receiver is further demonstrated.
We present the design, fabrication and measurement of a compact multimode interference (MMI) coupler based on silicon nanowire waveguides. The fabricated device has very low excess loss of 0.06dB and a broad operation bandwidth.
Grating couplers using CMOS poly-silicon gate layer are demonstrated, which can be integrated with electronic circuits without adding any additional process steps. Peak coupling efficiency of ∼40% and 3dB bandwidth of ∼60nm are obtained with low back reflection.
A novel dual-band tandem coupler with an arbitrary coupling coefficient is proposed and experimentally proved in this paper. The coupler consists of a typical tandem coupler and an additional transmission line placed between the two pairs of coupled lines. The coupler has a simple structure and can realize arbitrary coupling coefficients over two designated frequencies. Design equations are derived...
