In the classical indirect holographic setup, a wave emitted by the measurement object is superimposed with a reference wave at the aperture of the imaging system. The resulting interference pattern can be recorded with a simple intensity detection. However, the complex object field can be obtained from the plane wave spectrum (PWS) of the interference pattern. Dedicated methods can be used to calculate...
This paper describes a demonstrator for a millimeter-wave imaging system, showing for the first time the feasibility of an active fully electronic imaging system in the 80 GHz region using a 2D planar sparse array as an imaging sensor. The demonstrator is capable of capturing images of living persons. In this work, the requirements regarding measurement speed are derived. The system architecture is...
The achievable illumination quality in microwave and millimeter-wave images using multistatic planar arrays is discussed. The geometrical relations between the array effective aperture and the illumination boundaries caused by the specular reflections are introduced. Afterwards, the variations in the processing gain due to diffuse and specular reflections are analyzed and verified experimentally.
