We experimentally investigated the combined effect of DGD and PDL in installed fibers for the first time. The experimental results show that the Q-factor variation caused by PDL decreases as the DGD value increases.
We demonstrate 102.3 Tb/s transmission over 3×80 km of PSCF by employing 548-Gb/s PDM-64QAM single-carrier frequency-division-multiplexing (SC-FDM) signals with pilot tone and 11.2-THz ultra-wideband low-noise amplification in the C- and extended L-bands.
Frequency-domain equalization (FDE) has been attracting much attention for high-speed long-haul transmission over fiber-optic channels. Two FDE configurations for coherent optical transmission are presented and some applications are also described.
We demonstrate 45.2Tb/s 50-GHz-spaced WDM transmission over 240km (3 × 80km) in C-band using 538 Gb/s PDM-64QAM single-carrier frequency-division-multiplexed (SC-FDM) signal with digital pilot tone. Nonlinear tolerance is enhanced at spectral efficiency of 10b/s/Hz.
Experimental performance evaluation of SPM compensation and its application in optical transport network is introduced. Experimental results show transmission distances of 100 Gbps signal reaches 16,340 and 12,015 km in single-channel and 10-ch WDM conditions respectively.
We propose two-stage overlap frequency domain equalization (OFDE) to compensate chromatic dispersion and polarization mode dispersion in practical long-haul optical systems. This paper evaluates the performance of 25-Gb/s coherent optical single-carrier transmission using two-stage OFDE.
