We describe recent experimental progress with the JILA Sr optical frequency standard, which has a systematic uncertainty at the 10−16 fractional frequency level, currently limited by frequency shifts due to atomic interactions and room temperature blackbody radiation (BBR). We will discuss systematic measurements of collisional shifts and provide a complete theory to understand these interaction effects...
We present a fully phase-stabilized frequency comb with 10 W average power and 136 MHz repetition rate produced by a Yb:fiber system. Direct comparison with an octave-spanning Ti:sapphire comb yields record-low sub-mHz relative linewidths for frequency combs.
We report on direct stabilization of a femtosecond comb to a stable optical cavity with an analysis of various stabilization schemes. An absolute fractional frequency instability of <7 /spl times/ 10/sup -14/ at 1 second is measured.
