Aromatic alcohols are liable to result in enzyme inactivation. A novel strategy was established for improving the aromatic alcohol tolerance of β-galactosidase (BMG) from Bacillus megaterium YZ08. The half-life of BMG in 200mM vanillyl alcohol solution was dramatically increased by 9–123 times with the addition of hydrophilic solvents. In 30% DMSO, the reaction concentration of aromatic alcohol could...
Poly(styrene sulfonic acid)–grafted carbon nanotube was prepared and used as a solid acid catalyst in the alkylation of hydroquinone with tert-butanol. The material exhibits high activity as well as good stability as compared with other carbon-based solid acids. 73.3% of conversion and 53.7% of 2-TBHQ yield can be reached at 150°C.
