Stark im Nahinfrarot(NIR)‐Bereich absorbierender Libethenit (Cu2(OH)PO4; siehe Bild, 4–5 μm×1.5 μm) wirkt als Photokatalysator des 2,4‐Dichlorphenol‐Abbaus in wässriger Lösung. Die NIR‐Aktivierung des Photokatalysators folgt aus dem leichten Transfer photochemisch erzeugter Elektronen von trigonal‐bipyramidal koordinierten CuII‐Zentren auf benachbarte oktaedrische CuII‐Zentren.
