Space–time adaptive processing (STAP) is usually adopted in airborne and spaceborne radars for clutter suppression and slow moving target detection. However, for traditional sample covariance matrix inversion algorithm, there are usually not enough independent and identically distributed secondary samples to achieve a satisfactory performance. The diagonal loading methods are usually utilised to solve...
This paper investigates the lifetimes of the objects used by Radar signal processing(RSP) systems and classifies them into temporary objects and persistent objects. Based on this classification, we propose a memory allocator which is well suited for embedded RSP systems. It is shown that this allocator has constant response time and introduces neither internal nor external fragmentations.
Recently, the knowledge-based clutter covariance estimate methods are developed to improve the convergence rate. In this paper, the relationship between some widely-used knowledge-based methods and the traditional reduced-order methods are established. It is found that the colored loading (CL) is equivalent to the pre-whitened diagonal loading (DL), and the fast maximum likelihood with assumed clutter...
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar has shown its great potential on. combating with target fades by averaging the target RCSs on many decorrelated channels, and hence significantly improves the system performance. The amount of decorrelated channels is mathematically represented by the rank of channel matrix. In this paper, an analysis on the rank of channel matrix for monostatic MIMO radar...
For hybrid bistatic space based radar (HB-SBR) which is composed of a transmitter on a satellite and a receiver on an airplane, clutter is a serious problem for detecting slow moving target. The authors discuss the effects of geometry on clutter characteristics, such as Doppler-angle traces, isorange and isodoppler contours, Doppler ambiguities and so on, of HB-SBR which applies space-time adaptive...
