We report an ultra-low threshold phonon laser using coupled microtoroid cavities in vacuum with a novel coupling method. The measured lasing threshold is as low as 1.3 µW.
We demonstrate radiation-pressure-driven mechanical oscillations from high optical quality factor silica microdisk resonators on chip.
