To meet the growing demand for multimedia services, Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) was proposed to enhance bandwidth efficiency in wireless communication systems. Although MBMS supports multimedia streams with several resolutions, streams with different resolutions are treated as separate services and transmitted upon independent radio resources, resulting in inefficient resource utilization...
We propose an algorithm for CO-OFDM receivers to perform overlapped frequency-domain CD and PMD equalization before OFDM symbol demodulation. This approach enables OFDM transmission with a small cyclic prefix overhead of only 0.08%, and can enlarge the frequency averaging length for channel estimation in the presence of high PMD.
Channel estimation for a reduced-guard-interval (RGI) CO-OFDM system shows a unique dependence on the training symbol design in the presence of intra-channel nonlinearities. Because smaller FFT sizes can be used, the RGI CO-OFDM system also demonstrates better nonlinearity tolerance than conventional CO-OFDM with larger FFT sizes.
We investigate the maximum outage throughput for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems in the presence of feedback channel capacity constraints. We attempt to establish an information-theoretic lower bound on the capacity of feedback channel and build the corresponding test channel that achieves this lower bound. Based on the derived test channel, we formulate the outage throughput...
The multi-resolution multicast service is an emerging service for future generation communication systems, supporting different service qualities for receivers with different capabilities. Under such a scenario, the radio resource arrangement becomes very complex but is important in order to enhance the overall system throughput. For multi-resolution multicast OFDM systems, we proposed an adaptive...
PAPR is one of the major drawbacks for the widely adopted communication technique, OFDM (orthogonal frequency dividing multiplexing). There are a lot of researches proposed to reduce the PAPR at the cost of either performance degradation or bandwidth inefficiency. In this paper, a cross-layer design for joint PAPR reduction and multi-resolution resource allocation is introduced, which has neither...
