Resonant total-internal-reflection diode pumping of Q-switched 1.64 μm Er3+:YAG laser with a crystalline fiber-like geometry is reported with ~10 W in cw-mode and 2.8 mJ in Q-switched mode.
Experimental results on a 1.2 mm diameter 60 mm long, TIR-pumped Er3+:YAG laser and its thermal lens effects are presented. Up to 9.4 W output power are achieved.
Using high-brightness laser diodes for resonantly pumping a 1.64 mum Er:YAG laser, 9 W output power is achieved at 64.3% intrinsic slope with up to 95% mode-fill efficiency.
We report on the Q-switched operation of Tm3+-doped and Tm3+, Ho3+-co-doped silica fiber lasers. Short pulses at high repetition rates and high average power could be achieved with the Tm3+-doped silica fiber.
Highly efficient cw (49 % opt.-opt., 20 W) and Q-switched (9 W average) Tm:ZBLAN fiber lasers are reported. Used for pumping Cr2+:ZnSe, 65 ns gain-switched pulses were achieved around 2.3 mum (1 W average).
