A novel nickel/gold based electroplated 4-bit RF MEMS phase shifter is designed, fabricated and tested. The proposed design can candle high power and utilizes CPW transmission lines that use 8 latching SPDT RF MEMS switches that can work at 80°K. The design is based on 4 cascaded phase shifting units where every unit has two different electrical lengths of CPW transmission lines. Every unit has one...

A graphene-based antenna for the THz photomixing application is proposed. The graphene layer was used to control the antenna's resonance frequency. A frequency change as high as 270 GHz at the center frequency of 1.4 THz was obtained for the proposed antenna structure.
This paper describes the design methodology and low-cost solutions implemented in the a low-cost 1K element phased array system. The system operates at 12.2 to 12.7 GHz supporting both left hand and right hand circular polarizations. The total radiation gain is 31.8 dBi and the axial ratio is 1.5 dB. The total height and weight of the system are only 5 cm and 9 Kg respectively. The techniques and...
This paper presents a double-balanced CMOS down-conversion mixer for 60-GHz receivers, although the mixer is designed specifically for a phased array receiver architecture. The proposed mixer uses two on-chip baluns implemented with the two top metal layers in a 0.13-μm CMOS technology. The baluns provide 180° differential outputs from applied single-ended input at the radio-frequency (RF) and local-oscillator...
