In the paper we present a complete analysis of the analog optical link operating at the gain peak wavelength (GPW) of 1.53 µm instead of the flat gain wavelength of 1.55 µm of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) for microwave photonic applications. It is theoretically and experimentally demonstrated that the usage of an EDFA at the GPW of 1.53 µm can significantly improve link gain in comparison...
In this paper, the fiber-optic system with all-optical gain for local-oscillator (LO) signal distribution in the frequency range from 2 to 20 GHz between 64 sub-arrays (channels) in active phased arrays via fiber-optic cables is presented. The channel noise and gain of the distribution system and relative phase drift between the channels are studied theoretically and experimentally.
