Magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE) is a widely used tool in surface physics to characterize magnetic thin films and single crystals. In most of its applications, the magneto-optic (MO) coupling is assumed to be linear on magnetization by neglecting the quadratic and higher dependences. However, recent observations have shown that the quadratic dependence cannot be always ignored, particularly in systems...
We studied the magnetoresistance of symmetric cobalt nanorings with nanowires attached at diametrically opposite positions. Deterministic switching, induced by an external magnetic field between the stable magnetization states, is demonstrated using histograms of the resistance changes as a function of an external magnetic field. The changes of the switching fields were studied as the lateral dimensions...
In this paper, we are interested in the analysis of blood flow in elastic arteries in the presence of transverse magnetic field. We extend the local flow calculations to include the non- Newtonian rheology of blood in order to examine the effects of the shear thinning visco-elasticity of blood on flow phenomena in large elastic arteries in the presence of magnetic field using a suitable finite difference...
Recently, magnetic stimulation of the central and peripheral nervous systems is becoming an alternative mechanism to the electrical stimulation. Due to the excellent permeability of the magnetic fields in tissue, magnetic stimulation is found as a non-invasive or minimally invasive technique that can increase the efficacy and longevity of the neural stimulator. Magnetic stimulation, as compared to...
The design work for 95 GHz, 100 kW gyrotron for Active Denial System (ADS) application is presented. The mode selection is performed considering the various technical constraints. Particle-in-Cell code is used for the beam-wave interaction computation and cavity design. In addition, the designs of electron beam source, collector and RF window are also discussed. The design results confirm the RF power...
This paper presents the electrical designs of interaction cavity and electron gun for triple frequency (170-, 140-, and 127.5 GHz) gyrotron. TE34,10, TE21,11 and TE22,9 modes are selected as the operating mode for 170 GHz, 140 GHz and 127.5 GHz operation of the device, respectively. The design results show more than 1 MW power at all three frequencies.
We investigate the linear theory of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability in partially ionized dusty plasma consisting of positive ions, electrons, dust grains and neutral gas molecules. The neutral gas is taken to be at rest. The dust grains are so heavy that they do not participate in plasma motion and therefore we do not consider the collisions of dust grains with neutral gas molecules. The equilibrium...
In this paper the design of interaction cavity for 170GHz, 1MW gyrotron is presented. An in-house developed code GCOMS has been used for operating mode selection and mode competition. For 170 GHz, 1 MW gyrotron interaction cavity TE28,7 mode excite as a operating mode at the fundamental harmonic number. The Electromagnetic simulator-MAGIC, a Particle-in-Cell (PIC) code has been used for the cold cavity...
The design of 42 GHz, 200 kW Gyrotron has been carried out using in-house and commercially available software's. A triode type MIG has been designed using EGUN code and three in house developed codes MIGSYN, GINTMESH and MIGANS respectively. A weakly tapered interaction cavity has been designed to excite TE03 operation mode. A software GCAVSYN has been developed to synthesize the cavity geometry and...
A weakly tapered interaction cavity has been designed to excite TE22,6 operating mode at the fundamental harmonic number for 120 GHz, 1 MW gyrotron. A MATLAB code has been developed to synthesize cavity geometry and selection of operating mode. The cold cavity analysis and the beam-wave interaction were carried out using the commercially available PIC code MAGIC. The output power above 1 MW has been...
