This project describes the investigation, development and implementation of an electronic device that measures the required force to break a seed. The device is based on a load cell which measures the force applied to the solid. The device detects the instant when the sample breaks. The obtained hardness values are stored in the device internal memory and are visualized in a liquid crystal display...
Failures in power semi-conductors of a dual active bridge converter are characterised considering open-circuit faults in diodes and transistors. A detailed electrical waveforms analysis to identify the main symptoms of the converter during normal and failure conditions is presented. Based on this analysis, a fault diagnosis strategy is proposed which is able to identify failures either in a diode...
This paper proposes a design of a bidirectional three-port DC-DC converter in order to extend the operating limits when the converter is used as an interface between a battery bank, a supercapacitor and a dc load. The operating limits are determined according to the maximum current on the switches and also by the thermal limit established by the junction temperature of the semiconductors. It is shown...
In this work, power losses of a bidirectional three-port DC-DC converter using different sets of auxiliary inductances are evaluated. The losses are calculated as function of the voltages conversion ratios and the power transferred. The results obtained show that using the set of the auxiliary inductances previously determined in [1], allows minimize the total power losses of the converter.
Power losses of a bidirectional three-port DC–DC converter to be used in hybrid electric systems as a function of the voltage conversion ratios and the output power are evaluated in this work. An analysis and characterization of the current on the switches into the whole converter operating range are presented. This analysis allows finding the semiconductor conduction intervals, necessary to calculate...
An analysis and evaluation of power switch losses of three-port bidirectional DC-DC converters to be used in hybrid electric systems is presented in this work. The analysis is carried out considering all the different converter operation modes. The evaluation considers different voltage levels, different switches (IGBT and MOSFET) and different high-frequency transformer leakage inductance. As a result,...
