This is the first exhaustive report on the variation of stereoselectivity ratios for a simple Diels–Alder reaction between cyclopentadiene and methyl acrylate. The reaction was carried out in aqueous mixtures of methanol, ethanol, propan-1-ol and butan-1-ol in presence of LiClO 4 , LiCl, NaCl, KCl, CaCl 2 and MgCl 2 . The endo stereoisomer decreases with the increase in carbon...
The salt effect on the stereoselectivity of the reaction of cyclopentadiene with methyl methacrylate has been investigated. CaCl 2 , Na 2 SO 4 , KCl and LiCl enhance the endo/exo ratios, while guanidinium chloride (GnCl) and LiClO 4 decrease them. The results are supported by independent calculations of salting-out and in coefficients.
