We present a continuous-wave coherent homodyne detection system based on terahertz (THz) phase control using balanced electro-optic phase modulation for high dynamic range. Phase-sensitive and fast THz measurement is demonstrated with a dynamic range of over 55 dB in 1-ms integration time.
This paper presents and validates a method for measuring partial inductance with a set of measurement data in comparison to their corresponding exact analytic solution for samples of round wires of different lengths. The concept of partial inductance was introduced and known as a mathematical concept and often perceived “not measurable”, which has been the primary reason for a debate on the existence...
This paper presents the design and simulation of a novel fixed-tuned 310-350-GHz wide-band sub-harmonic mixer. The mixer is based on an anti-parallel pair of GaAs Schottky diodes fabricated at European company. The circuits are fully integrated with the RF/IF filter and flip-chipped onto a suspended quartz-based substrate. A best double-sideband-mixer loss of 5.7 dB was achieved with 5 mW of LO power...
A field-based calibration technique for external electro-optic (EO) sampling has been proposed using the system transfer function approach and verified by simulation. The optical simulation incorporating finite-difference-time-domain (FDTD) full wave field analysis is used to predict the optical output in external EO sampling. It is found that distortions can be introduced by probes due to their intrinsic...
Beams of charge- and current-neutralized plasma will cross a transverse-magnetic field by a combination of collective-plasma processes. These processes were studied for a high -to-low beta (β ≡ plasma energy density/magnetic field energy density) hydrogen-plasma beam injected into a vacuum transverse magnetic field with nominal parameters: Ti ≈ 1 eV, Te ≈ 5 eV, n ≤ 1014 cm−3, vi ≤ 9 × 106 cm/s, tpulse...
