Conventional operation strategy for photovoltaic (PV) system is to operate PV at maximum power point (MPP) for maximum energy harvest. However, this will cause problems in some scenarios. For PV-battery systems, when the batteries are nearly fully charged, operating PV at MPP will overcharge the battery, and decrease the lifespan of batteries. Besides, it has been reported that in some sunny days,...
This paper proposes an asymmetrical high-step-up DC-DC power converter for photovoltaic (PV) power system applications. The proposed topology presents a combination of soft switching technique and high-step-up features, and can be used to boost the low PV output voltage to an adjustable high voltage with high efficiency. The proposed topology has been validated by PSIM simulation and experiments.
To increase the reliability of renewable energy production, the local environment variables have to be monitored closely, such as the chamber/nacelle temperature and humidity. In such harsh working conditions, acquiring auxiliary power for such sensor load can harm system reliability if the power is drawn directly from the supply or load lines. This paper proposes a non-intrusive power supply system...
