A common Transport API is proposed for joint cloud/network orchestration, allowing interworking of heterogeneous control planes to provide provisioning/recovery of QoS-aware E2E services. We present its first demonstration in a multi-partner testbed including data-plane monitoring.
By using an OpenFlow/stateless PCE integrated control plane with significant protocol extensions, we successfully demonstrate and quantitatively evaluate dynamic end-to-end path provisioning and lightpath restoration in a transparent WSON employing flexible transmitters/receivers.
The impact of the regenerator placement strategies when dynamically provisioning connections in translucent WSON is studied. The evaluation is experimentally conducted in the ADRENALINE testbed in terms of the connection blocking.
We present a lab-trial of lightpath provisioning for multi-area, OSNR-aware and GMPLS-enabled WSON combining BRPC for path optimality with Path Keys for topology confidentiality. We quantitatively show its feasibility and performance such as the setup delay.
This article studies the impact of the fiber link distance when dynamically provisioning connections within a GMPLS-enabled translucent WSON. In particular, two link-cost strategies, namely, uniform and distance-based are compared extending previous works focused on validating a devised OSNR-based IRWA algorithm. In the uniform strategy, the metric for all the links having available wavelengths is...
This article addresses the dynamic provisioning of optical connections within a GMPLS-enabled translucent wavelength switched optical network with sparse 3R regenerators. To this end, an OSNR-based IRWA algorithm computes routes that aim at satisfying both restrictions: the wavelength continuity constraint and adequate end-to-end optical signal quality. If either constraint cannot be satisfied, the...
A novel OSNR-based IRWA algorithm and the required GMPLS extensions for dynamic provisioning in translucent WSON are presented. Experimental evaluation and validation in the ADRENALINE test-bed shows an important blocking reduction compared to transparent networks.
