The dual-wavelength modulation technique for linearization of an electro-absorption modulator for radio-over-fiber systems is experimentally demonstrated. Using this technique, the spurious free dynamic range was improved by 16.3 dB.
Multi-channel photonic frequency upconversion utilizing the four-wave mixing effect in a semiconductor optical amplifier was experimentally demonstrated. Generation of eight-channel error-free optical radio frequency signals was achieved with power penalties less than 2.7 dB.
