We report on the fabrication and characterization of the self-switching nano-diodes using zinc oxide films grown on glass substrates for use as transparent rectifiers. Diode-like characteristics were clearly observed. The current clearly increased with increases in the channel length and the turn-on voltage sifted toward zero volt with decreasing the channel width. Overall, we found that the rectifying...
Performance of a liquid metal sputtering system induced by a radio frequency (RF) power source has been investigated. The system was equipped with a spherical glass reservoir for liquid metal in order to minimize contamination due to metallic impuritiesl. The system was fitted with a planar magnetron electrode in order to confine the gas discharge near the target surface and away from the substrate...
A lanthanum codoped erbium fibre amplifier (La-Er/GeO/sub 2//SiO/sub 2/) has been investigated by comparing such an amplifier with Al-Er/GeO/sub 2//SiO/sub 2/ and Er/GeO/sub 2//SiO/sub 2/ EDFAs. A gain of more than 35 dB at a wavelength of 1.535 mu m was obtained for 1.48 mu m pump power of 35 mW, which was the highest gain among them. The gain spectral profile was moderately flattened at around 1...
An optical gain of 22 dB at 1.535 mu m is obtained in an Er/sup 3+/-doped fibre amplifier for a total pump power of 54 mW. The Er/sup 3+/ doping concentration is 34 p.p.m., and the pumping source is GaAlAs laser diodes at 820 nm. By using an Er/sup 3+/ fibre with a doping concentration of 390 p.p.m., the maximum gain is as high as 29.4 dB for a pump power of 83 mW.<<ETX>>
