Si-photonic Hybrid Ring-filter External Cavity (SHREC) wavelength tunable lasers by passive alignment techniques with over 100-mW fiber-coupled power and linewidth narrower than 15 kHz along the whole C-band are demonstrated. Obtained results show excellent features of Si-photonics towards commercial products.
Generation of a wide-range THz wave from a photoconductive antenna excited by a multimode semiconductor chaotic oscillation laser with an optical delayed feedback using an external mirror is investigated. An optical fiber is also used for easy alignment. The properties of the generated THz wave are compared with those of generated THz wave by using a CW steady state laser.
In order to completely prevent the mixture of different medicines and also their contamination by foreign objects it is necessary to inspect all medicines in the manufacturing process. In line with this, THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) is considered to be a promising technique applicable to the quality-control inspection system along the production line of chemicals and medicinal tablets. However,...
A passively Q-switched monolithic solid-state laser with a crystal of Nd:YAG+Cr:YAG bonded at room temperature and a fiber-coupled LD stack was developed. 12 mJ output with 50 Hz and 2.3 ns pulse width was achieved.
A group of polymers whose molecular chain consists of chiral molecules that form a helical structure has recently become of major interest. For example, chiral polymers exhibit shear piezoelectricity. The complex electrically controlled motion of chiral polymer fiber, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) fiber, due to its piezoelectricity was realized, as reported in this paper.
Polarization selection in fiber lasers by use of two birefringent fiber Bragg gratings is investigated. When the principal axes of the two gratings are arranged perpendicularly by incorporating one cross splicing and one of the combinations of slow and fast axis Bragg wavelengths is matched, a resonator can be formed only for a single-polarization state. An 8-W 1064-nm linearly polarized Yb-doped...
