Dynamic-type sea-water monopole antenna of high efficiency is presented by using a new shunt-excited feeding structure. The shunt-excited feeding structure is mainly formed by a conducting tube and a Gamma-shape ($\Gamma$-shape) feeding arm connected to the conducting tube near the top. An equivalent circuit model and ANSYS HFSS software are used in the analysis and design of the sea-water monopole...
A square cross section planar helix with straightedge connections has been simulated with a cylindrical electron beam for traveling-wave tube amplifier application. The saturated output peak power varies from 0.65 W to 2.58 W over the frequency range of 85–110 GHz. The maximum electronic efficiency is 7.3 % at 97.5GHz for a beam of 5.8 kV and 8 mA.
A planar helix slow-wave structure which has straight-edge connections has been studied for traveling-wave tube applications. The effects of coplanar ground planes, on the dielectric surfaces which also contain the top and bottom inclined helix strips, are examined. The phase velocity and interaction impedance are studied for two possible planar helix configurations. The coplanar ground planes reduce...
A printed planar helix with straight-edge connections has been simulated with a sheet electron beam, which has an elliptical cross-section and is centered in the planar helix. The amplification of the input signal as well as the mode of propagation has been examined. A gain of 15 dB at 4.75 GHz is observed for a beam current of 32 mA.
