We first report a low power consumption (under 0.18 W) and a wide temperature range (-5 to 75 degC) operation of 1.55-mum un-cooled EA/DFB-LD coaxial-type TOSA in 10-Gbit/s 40-km transmission.
10-Gbps, 80-km transmission was achieved by a wavelength-tunable EA/DFB laser with 8-channels and 100-GHz spacing. A dynamic extinction ratio over 10-dB and a power penally below 2-dB were achieved over 5.6-nm continuous wavelength tuning range.
