Stabilization of an unstable system with an unknown actuator delay of substantial length is an important problem that has never been attempted. We present a Lyapunov-based adaptive control design, prove its stability and regulation properties for the plant and actuator states, and present a simulation example inspired by the problem of control of pitch and flight path rates in the unstable X-29 aircraft.
We present control designs for a general Moore-Greitzer one-mode model in the presence of limited actuator bandwidth. These designs guarantee that the bifurcation at the stall inception point will be supercritical, but offer no guarantee further away from the stall inception point. We show that /spl Phi/-feedback, demonstrated to be effective in suppressing surge in small-hysteresis compressors, can...
We present a self-tuning scheme for adapting the parameters of a PI controller proposed by Fung and Yang (1992) for stabilization of a Culick-type model of nonlinear acoustic oscillations in combustion chambers. Our adaptation criterion is Lyapunov-based and its objective is the regulation of nonlinear pressure oscillations to zero. We focus on a two-mode model and first develop a design based on...
