Applications such as high-precision GPS require an accurate characterization of the phase and group delays in the received signal. The purpose of this investigation is to explore and characterize both the phase and group delays for circularly-polarized (CP) microstrip antennas, which are common in GPS systems. Two types of CP patches are examined. The first is a square patch that is fed with a dual...
The goal of this paper is to study the dependence of resonant input resistance of the inset-fed patch on the notch and feed-line geometry. Different geometries, substrate materials, and feed lines were considered. A simple CAD formula for the input resistance is obtained. The effect of the notch on the radiation pattern is also studied to see how it influences cross polarization
A coplanar waveguide (CPW) loop is shown to be an effective low VSWR feed for microstrip antennas. The low VSWR transition between the CPW and the antenna is obtained without the use of a matching circuit, and it is relatively insensitive to the position of the antenna and the feed.<<ETX>>
