A novel and cost effective long reach PON downlink scenario is proposed employing a multi-carrier transmitter and pilot tone aided direct detection at the receiver. Error free performance with QPSK and 50km transmission is presented.
A low cost seven sub-carrier optical comb source in a 74.648Gb/s coherent wavelength division multiplexed (CoWDM) system is investigated. A spectral efficiency of 0.64bit/s/Hz and an average receiver sensitivity of -26dBm were achieved.
We demonstrate the first experimental implementation of an optical Fast-OFDM (FOFDM) system with a reduced sub-carrier spacing equal to half of the symbol rate. The performance was evaluated in terms of BER for 7.174Gbit/s and 14.348Gbit/s BPSK-FOFDM signals.
We report a novel carrier extraction scheme for carrier-less phase modulated signals using feed-forward based modulation stripping. The scheme could be used in various sub-systems which require phase coherent local oscillators such as phase sensitive amplifiers or coherent receivers.
In this paper, we review emerging technologies to build up Tb/s per channel transmission capacity. The different approaches, mainly based on various implementations of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, Nyquist wavelength division multiplexing and optical time division multiplexing, are introduced and compared with respect to complexity, spectral efficiency and transmission reach. In addition...
Future optical networks will require the implementation of very high capacity (and therefore spectral efficient) technologies. Multi-carrier systems, such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Coherent WDM (CoWDM), are promising candidates. In this paper, we present analytical, numerical, and experimental investigations of the impact of the relative phases between optical subcarriers...
In this paper we discuss high symbol rate all-optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), focusing on phase optimisation, optimum symbol rate for dispersion managed systems, and Ethernet performance.
