We experimentally demonstrate 100-Gb/s TWDM-PON with 4×100-GHz-spaced 25-Gb/s optical duobinary channels in the C-band for downstream transmission. Using 16-GHz APD with post-equalization, we achieve a loss budget of 37 dB after 20-km SSMF transmission with 1:512 power split.
We present a review of research performed in the area of coherent access technologies employing vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs). Experimental demonstrations of optical transmission over a passive fiber link with coherent detection using VCSEL local oscillators and directly modulated VCSEL transmitters at bit rates up to 10 Gbps in the C-band as well as in the O-band are presented...
Optical amplification of coexisted GPON and XG-PON upstreams is demonstrated using a gain-clamped semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). With gain clamping, performance degradation due to the cross-gain modulation between GPON and XG-PON signals is significantly reduced.
