This paper addresses some aspects of surface wetness, which is a most relevant issue for the decay of materials in the open. The performance of printed-circuit iron cells in self-driven operation under range-simulated saltfall (25 and 400 mg m -2 day -1 Cl -1 ) was assessed outdoors by means of zero-resistance ammetry. A 96-hour term at the beginning of each...
The present work shows that laser surface alloying of the creviced area on Al7175-T7351 with chromium can avoid crevice corrosion. Corrosion takes places outside the crevice in conditions where the ratio of anodic area to cathodic area is favourable to minimize corrosion. As laser surface processing is adequate for treating small areas there is an enormous potential in this technology.
