This paper proposes a quad-mode digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) for multi-band frequency synthesizer application. The DCO consists of an LC-tank using three inductors and two varactor arrays. Four different inductances and capacitances are obtained by tuning corresponding varactor values, which result in four resonances to increase the frequency tuning range. The simulation results show that...
Multi-finger transistor layout is widely used in CMOS circuit designs. Comparing with single-finger transistor layout, its main features include effectiveness in reducing circuit physical size and improving device matching. However in CMOS ring oscillator design, considerable performance discrepancies are found between multi-finger transistor layout and single finger transistor layout. Despite such...
This This paper reports a new width tunable ultra wide-band (UWB) Gaussian monocycle pulse (GMP) generator for radar application. The circuit is a monolithic design in low cost CMOS technology and is area efficient. The GMP is generated with a square wave generator and then differentiated. The square wave generator is actually a glitch generator using a ring oscillator as the input. The differentiator...
This paper proposes a spread spectrum clock generator (SSCG) for EMI reduction. The SSCG circuit utilizes a dual-voltage controlled oscillator based on the regular integer-N PLL. The circuit has been simulated in 0.18 mum CMOS technology. A 40 KHz triangular waveform is used for frequency modulation. The spectrum spread ratio ranges from 0.125% to 1%. The peak power reduction is 16 dB.
This paper presents an equivalent current sensing technique for the applications o tests. This is accomplished by monitoring the operations of existing on-chip voltage regulators, which indirectly provides the IDDQ information. Equivalent IDDQ information is obtained by measuring an internal voltage signal of a regulator. Then, the measured data is shifted out using the IEEE 1149.1 standard. IDDQ...
