We reported a novel carbon nanotube/pyrocarbon (CNT/PyC) interlayer for joining carbon/carbon composites (C/C). Radially-aligned CNT was in-situ grown on the bonding surface of C/C and followed by the infiltration of PyC between CNT-covered C/C.
