This study analyzes the oxidation of dichlorvos with Fenton's reagent in solutions containing various ions. Results show that the larger the added amount of ferrous ions, the higher the elimination rate of dichlorvos and the oxidization rate after the addition of ferric ions is far smaller than that of adding ferrous ions. Anions suppress the decomposition of dichlorvos in the following sequence:...
The toxic chemicals, 2,4-D (a herbicide) and propoxur (an insecticide), were used as the model compounds in these experiments. Total organic carbon analyzer was used to assess the efficiency of photocatalytic mineralization. Microtox bioassay was employed in evaluating the toxicity of solutions treated by photocatalysis. Ultraviolet absorption spectra were also used for showing the different characteristics...
Much of the natural gas in the Devonian shales in the Appalachian basin is stored as a condensed phase, which may be in solution in organic material or adsorbed on surfaces. A laboratory apparatus and measurement procedures for accurate determination of the relatively small amounts of condensed phase typical of Devonian shale samples have been designed. A temperature control system was developed...
