In June 2013, we started a joint research project MICROPHOTON, “Measurement and Control of Single-Photon Microwave Radiation on a Chip”, as a part of the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP). The objectives of the project include the development of novel microwave detectors and sources that would ultimately operate at the single-photon level, and the improvement in the performance of cryoelectronic...
We demonstrate that the accuracy of the current quantisation in a semiconductor tunable-barrier pump is better than 1.1×10−6 at a current of 150 pA. We measure the pump current against a reference current traceable to the Josephson and quantum Hall effects. The measurement technique is described in detail, and routes for further development discussed.
