A mode conversion-based crosstalk-aware routing, spectrum and mode assignment (MC-CA RSMA) algorithm is introduced in space-division multiplexing elastic optical networks (SDM-EONs) over few-mode fibers. Simulation results show the MC-CA RSMA algorithm can greatly reduce the impact of inter-mode crosstalk on network performance compared with benchmark algorithms.
An auxiliary graph (AG) is designed to address traffic grooming under dynamic traffic scenario in spatial division multiplexing enabled elastic optical networks (SDM-EON). Various traffic grooming policies are achieved by adjusting the edge weights of AG, and evaluated through simulation in terms of spectrum efficiency and inter-core crosstalk. Numeric results show that the proposed SDM grooming reduces...
For the first time, re-provisioning is introduced into advanced reservation enabled optical transport networks as a novel perspective for optimization. Demonstration results show parallel service re-provisioning (PSRP) can improve the efficiency of network resource significantly.
Currently, service characteristic is rarely considered in service processing for the optical network. In this paper, we introduce a novel service-basedscheme which will buffer and schedule services to optimize the blocking performance of flexi-grid optical network based on Software Defined Network (SDN). This scheme gives sufficient consideration to the diversity of services in SDN network. Besides,...
In this paper, we propose a novel re-restoration mechanism based on fuzzy fault set under multi-faults in optical transport networks. This new scheme inherits from our already proposed FFS (fuzzy fault set) based restoration mechanism which is a reasonable trade-off between the recovery success rate and the remaining network risk resources. We mainly consider the link faults in the simulation because...
This paper addresses the problem of gradual migration from fixed grid to flex grid. We discuss how to perform spectrum assignment in a mixed fixed/flex network, and we propose and compare three upgrade strategies under two traffic models in four different scenarios.
We propose a minimum-free-spectrum-block-consumption algorithm (MFSB) for shared-path protection with joint failure probability requirements in flexible bandwidth optical networks. Compared with conventional algorithms, MFSB efficiently decreases the spectrum block consumption and achieves higher spectrum utilization.
In this paper, we analyze the impact of configuration time on network performance in GMPLS based WDM networks, and propose a modified destination-initiated reservation (M-DIR) approach to reduce the impact.
The OTN over WDM network is one of the best solutions of the optical transmission network. As a traditional multi-layer network, multi-layer traffic grooming algorithms in the OTN over WDM network have been fully studied. However, the cross-connects capacity management problem of the OTN node in the OTN over WDM network is still under study. In our previous work, an OTN over WDM numeric model is proposed...
As a key problem in wavelength switched optical networks (WSON) in which wavelengths are the most important resources, routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) problem has been researched extensively. Due to the advantages of path computation in multi-layer and multi-domain networks, especially in multi-constraints scenarios, path computation element (PCE) has been introduced into WSON, which provides...
A testbed based on European Cost-239 topology is constructed to demonstrate the transmission performance of MPLS-TP network. By introducing streaming media traffic, two factors are given with numerical results to show their influences on transmission.
MPLS fast reroute achieves rapid restoration by computing, setting up backup LSP for potential failure point in advance and re-directing the traffic close to failure point when failure happens. In order to economize the network resource, and improve the resource utilization, in this paper we provide a shared-bandwidth reservation strategy during setting up the local backup path. This solution extends...
In this paper, a new collision-aware wavelength assignment scheme called CAFF (collision-aware first fit) has been proposed for GMPLS based transparent WDM networks. CAFF assign a weight to each wavelength of the network links, which denotes the concurrent reservation probability. So the destination can select a wavelength with less collision probability according to the weight. Simulations are conducted...
