In this paper, we report on the structure, magnetic transition and the magnetostrictive effect in B-substituted MnCoSi alloys. By replacing 2% Si with B, the room-temperature critical field is sharply reduced to 0.8T and the temperature of tricritical point is tuned down to be around 270K.
